The myths and way ahead for professional accreditation
Those who wish to obtain the CMIOSH grade of IOSH membership after completing their NEBOSH Diploma must complete both the IOSH scheme for Continious Professional Development (CPD) and also the Individual Professional Development Programme (IPD) which involves demonstrating that you have used your professional health and safety skills in the workplace.
CMIOSH status entitles a practitioner to enrol on the Health & Safety Consultants Register therefore this course is ideally suited for this purpose.
This session has been developed in response to delegate enquires regarding their professional development and achieving Corporate Membership of IOSH to become a full Chartered Member.
IOSH run two schemes which H&S professionals need to undertake, CPD is the one for all new and existing H&S practitioners. The aim of this scheme is to ensure that we all keep up to date with H&S practice, it also encourages skill development outside of the main stream field of H&S e.g. management skills, IT etc which may all contribute to our overall effectiveness as a safety practitioner. The current scheme is managed via the IOSH web site.
The other scheme, IPD is designed for those who are studying or have completed their Nebosh Diploma or similar, this is designed to demonstrate they have practiced their H&S skills in the workplace.
IPD does not involve doing anything different in the workplace but there are a number of key subject areas with specific criteria, each person needs to review these and decide which they can demonstrate they have achieved. For example if you have written a H&S policy, implemented a new training programme or carried out a workplace audit these are all typical tasks which you can use to demonstrate how you have achieved some of the key criteria.
The aim of the workshop is to go through stage by stage the CPD and IPD schemes, showing the use of the web based record system, forms and enabling you to plan which workplace activities you may be already be involved in but could form part of your IPD portfolio.
Places are limited to 14 on each course so early booking is advisable.
Workshop timings: 9.30 – 12.30 The workshop is available at just £30 + VAT.
