Nebosh National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety

This 38 day course, run on a day release basis, is designed to equip safety professionals with the key skills they need to contribute to the development of a safety culture within their organisation. Delegates should ideally have completed the Nebosh Certificate or an equivalent NVQ level three course prior to joining this Diploma level programme. All our course material and presentations has been updated to reflect the 2016 brand new syllabus.

The 38 days are split into three taught course modules and one workplace assignment module:

  • Unit A: Managing Health and Safety (16 days)
  • Unit B: Agents (11 days)
  • Unit C: Work Equipment and the Workplace (11 days)
  • Unit DNI: Work-based management report – brand new version launched 2017

We run one full programme a year and you can start with any of the Units, however most delegates opt to start their study with Unit A, this covers the Management of Health and Safety along with the UK legal framework. However you can start with Unit B, workplace agents such as chemicals and noise and Unit C which deals with workplace issues such as fire and electricity if the course dates fit into your schedule.

The modules can be taken over a period of time suited to your needs, as long as you have passed all four modules within a five year period.

Download a copy of our outline brochure for course dates.  Study programmes are flexible and options include:

  • Studying A, then B & C in parallel so that the course is completed within a ten month period.
  • Studying A, B, and then C over 18 months.
  • Studying A, B, C one unit per year, ie over 3 years.
  • Studying B & C in parallel then Unit A so the course will be completed in a 10 month period

Unit DNI Structure

This is a formal assignment set by Nebosh where candidates have to demonstrate their knowledge and practical application of some of the important subjects from Units A, B & C. The assignment requires the completion of a 10,000+ word vocational based report which must show that the candidate has both the knowledge and skills to apply the issues taught in a workplace of their choice. This focuses on the role of the health and safety practitioner and uses knowledge obtained from the study of element A11, to enable students to demonstrate how they have dealt with real health and safety issues in the workplace.

This assignment is marked by Nebosh markers with four submission dates a year in February, May, August and November for delegates to work towards.

The new Unit DNI can be submitted from February 2017 onwards but those who have already studied have the option of submitting the Unit D assignment up until November 2017.

For those who have studied with Cambridge Safety and have complete the course and their examinations but have not yet submitted their assignment we are holding a free workshop early in 2017 to act as a reminder and prompt to those who need to complete the project to complete their overall diploma. Contact us for details on 01733 865695.
