Here at Cambridge Safety, we are always keen to receive feedback from our delegates and to find out how our courses have played a part in their career. In this blog, we are sharing the progress of one of our delegates who after a one-day workshop with us was driven to pursue a career in Health and Safety.
Following the one-day workshop, they enrolled on the Nebosh General Certificate. A course that is designed to give delegates a broad awareness of the primary Health and Safety issues which affect every organisation. Making it the perfect place to start when looking to get into Health and Safety, with our exam results from classroom courses having a 72-75% pass rate in 2023. This course is made up of two units:
- NG1 – This unit includes four elements on managing Health and Safety which is followed by a case study-based open book exam.
- NG2 – This unit is made of seven elements which covers a range of workplace hazards and is assessed by a practical assessment.
Our team understands that for some it can be a nervous experience when doing a qualification in Health and Safety. This delegate was initially anxious, but with the support of Jackie, Paul and the rest of our team, they found the syllabus engaging and were guided through the process. With lots of revision on the delegate’s part and attending each course, they achieved a Distinction in the General Certificate! This then gave them the confidence to continue their ambitions of pursuing Health and Safety.
After completing the General Course, this delegate went on to complete the Environmental Management Certificate which they passed. This then enabled them to move into an Environmental officer role at their company. It is amazing to see how our courses have helped to progress this delegate’s career and we aim to continue to help our delegates progress professionally.
The Environmental Management Certificate covers the key issues of waste management, energy efficiency and pollution control. To pass this course there are two elements to the assessment, one being an open-book exam and the other being an Aspect and impact assessment. Both of these are designed to check that you can apply the knowledge to a real example, our team work closely with all of our delegates throughout to make sure they are well-prepared and get the most out of the course.
A year on from completing the Environmental management certificate and after a year as an “Environmental officer”, this same delegate came back to complete another course with us! This is something that we are eager to share because it shows how much this delegate valued our team’s help. This delegate took the plunge and enrolled on the Nebosh National Diploma in Health and Safety Management. This course offers an in-depth understanding of occupational Health and Safety. Covering additional management skills, in-depth reviews of risk management techniques, human factors, workplace health issues and key safety risks. This course was the ideal next step for this delegate as it is designed for those who want to further develop their knowledge and skills.
Where is this delegate now?
After Completing three courses with us this delegate is now in a Health and Safety role with the same company and is working towards a Degree in Health and Safety. This delegate attributes much of their success on their journey to us and our team, stating that our “attention to detail and engagement with delegates is second to none”. They also said that they would recommend us to anyone looking to start or continue their development in a career in Health and Safety. We could not be happier for this delegate and aim to continue to provide our delegates with the essential knowledge to allow them to excel. We are especially happy that this delegate kept booking courses with us because this shows how pleased they were with what we offer!
Full client testimonial
“I started my journey towards a career in HandS when I became a Safety Rep whilst working as a Process Operator. My first experience at Cambridge Safety was a one-day workshop and it immediately made an impact on me, and kick started an ambition to pursue a career in HandS. I later became a Team Leader and enrolled on the Nebosh General Certificate. I was very nervous as it was my first real qualification in HandS – Jackie and Paul Cambridge and their team are incredible at delivering the syllabus and really engaging with their delegates, through lots of revision and attending each course I achieved a Distinction in the General Certificate which gave me confidence to continue my ambitions. I then went on to complete the Environmental Management Certificate, achieving a pass which enabled me to move into an Environmental Officers Role with my company. After a year in this role, I took the plunge and enrolled in the Nebosh National Diploma in Health and Safety Management and exceeded my own expectations with a Distinction. I am now in a Health and Safety Role with my company and working towards a Degree in Health and Safety. I attribute much of my success on this journey to Cambridge Safety and their team, their attention to detail and engagement with delegates is second to none. So, a massive thank you to the Cambridge Safety Team, I would recommend them to anyone looking to start or continue their development in a career in Health and Safety.”
