The in-demand Nebosh General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is back! The next classroom course with Cambridge Safety starts 30th October 2025. Discover the latest updates to HSE in the UK, and why this course is more relevant (and a more sought after qualification) than ever before.
Why Book This Course?
The Nebosh General Certificate is the nationally recognised qualification for delegates wanting to start (or reboot) their career in Health and Safety. Cambridge Safety have been running this course for more than 25 years and always achieve a pass rate above national average. We are a small, friendly team who dedicate themselves to supporting our delegates through their learning journey, whilst ensuring our courses are enjoyable and informative.
But enough about us! The Nebosh General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety can support a boost to your career prospects and salary. That’s because this is an in-demand knowledge and skillset that employers are looking for to ensure compliance with ever-changing Health and Safety regulations in the workplace. Your role helps to prevent the risk of injury, protect companies from fines, legal fees and reputation damage and empower teams with knowledge and practices that keep them safe.
The HSE media centre posts daily, with many updates including stories of companies that have fallen foul of health and safety legislation, leading to costly legal battles and hours of work lost (around 33.7 million days are lost each year in the UK due to work related illness or injury). This highlights the need for improved awareness and oversight of health and safety measures in the workplace.
What’s in it for you specifically? As mentioned earlier, it makes you more desirable for employers and puts you in a position to make a positive difference for employers and employees alike – an admirable position. And that’s not to mention the salary increase you can negotiate as a result of being a proud Nebosh General Certificate holder.
Examples of some of our Delegates’ Journey
To help you decide if this course is right for you, we’re sharing some of the varied journeys our delegates have taken.
Delegate A booked onto the Nebosh General Certificate after being promoted to Health and Safety Manager. They weren’t aware of all of their new responsibilities as a Manager and how H&S law applied to them, and found the course extremely helpful in supporting their new work role and how to motivate staff into a safe working culture.
Delegate B first booked the Nebosh General Certificate in 2018, really enjoyed the learning journey and decided to study the Nebosh Fire Safety Certificate and Nebosh Environment Management Certificate. They have since attended the 1 day skills courses including Incident Investigation and Risk Assessment at Work.
Delegate C started with the IOSH Managing Safely Course which got them really interested in Health and Safety, worked towards a career change as a Health and Safety Co-ordinator and their employer booked them onto the Nebosh General Certificate to support this, they were so inspired that they continued with their career progression, attended the Nebosh Diploma course and were promoted to Head of Health and Safety.
Delegate D was given H&S responsibilities along with their training manager role. They completed the certificate to enable them to carry out their new duties. They enjoyed the H&S component so much they are now a full time H&S manager in the food industry.
Our courses include all the syllabus material required, additional resources including podcasts, YouTube video presentations and a web portal for useful documents.
