Nebosh Distance Learning

Here at Cambridge Safety, we appreciate that work and personal circumstances do not always allow those wishing to develop new skills to attend a fully tutored course. As such we have developed a distance learning options to enable directed study towards a range of Nebosh qualifications. Nebosh distance learning can be started at any time, with a variety of examination dates available each year.

Is distance learning right for you?

It is important to remember that these are high-level qualifications which require in-depth analysis of the topics studied along with extensive research of the course materials provided and external information sources. Our NEBOSH courses are supported by extensive course materials, self marked assessments, tutor marked assessments and a resource library on a memory stick along with access to our online resource library. You will need to be highly motivated and have the ability to plan your study route.

You will be given the opportunity to take your exams and attend optional revision sessions at our Peterborough, Cambridgeshire venue. Alternatively, exams can be taken at other Nebosh centres that have arrangements to accept external candidates.

Cambridge Safety Distance Learning

The package for each course contains comprehensive handouts covering the full range of the syllabus and includes practical examples and exercises. An additional key point summary of the entire syllabus is also included, highlighting the essential learning points. Tutor support is for one year for certificate level and three years for diploma level, commencing on receipt of the distance learning package.

Guidance on the completion of the work-based assessment, which must be completed as part of the qualification is also provided. This package is also supplemented by the provision of tutor marked assessments per course unit, plus tutor support by telephone and email.

Additional tutorial days on specific topics are available (places permitting). Revision tutorials are run prior to most examinations which aim to cover a range of issues from the relevant syllabus and examination techniques, as well as a mock assessment if time permits.

Nebosh Diploma Distance Learning

Our Nebosh Diploma Occupational Health and Safety course is a highly popular course designed to develop your competency in the field of occupational health and safety - no matter the industry you work in. We offer two packages: one package includes revision sessions for each Unit prior to the exam dates and the other package does not include revision sessions. Comprehensive course materials include four handout manuals, two for Unit A and one each for Units B & C respectively. We recommend studying a level 3 health and safety qualification prior to undertaking the Diploma, plus this is a level 6 qualification so please take the time to consider whether distance learning is the best option for you. It also enables delegates to clarify any points from the syllabus which they are unsure about. Time permitting a mock assessment or examination is also used to prepare candidates for their formal examinations.

Sitting the Examinations

Study may commence at any time and you have the flexibility of choosing when to sit your examinations. However please note that to enter for any Nebosh exam or assessment, exam registration must be made approximately 10 weeks before the examination date, for example if the exam date is the 10th of July, candidates must register with their examination centre by the 15th of May. Details of the exam dates and registration dates are provided once you have booked on, or if you have a specific exam date in mind please contact us to confirm when you will need to be registered. Exams for diploma level qualifications are available twice a year, every January and July. We shall contact you if you have not made contact with us regarding your study for a period of 6 months.

Unit DNI - Four submission dates are held every year in February, May, August and November and you need to be registered for the submission. We shall email you with the registration forms for one year after you have sat Units A, B and C, if you have not submitted by then you will need to contact us when you are ready to submit and we can advise you of the next registration date.

If you wish to sit your exams with Cambridge Safety, email info@cambridgesafety.co.uk with the exam date you wish to sit, and we will confirm availability and send you an exam registration form.

If you are unable to sit your exams at Cambridge Safety, some other centres may accept external delegates. You will need to contact the centre for their approval and ourselves to make the necessary arrangements.

Frequently Asked Questions

The distance learning option is challenging and requires you to be incredibly self-motivated as you will be studying by yourself. You will receive a hard copy of the full course package, plus email and telephone support. You'll also receive tutor marked end of element assessments to be completed and sent to us for marking and feedback. Tutor support is for one year, commencing on receipt of the distance learning package.

Yes, this can be booked either when you buy your package or at any time before the session but this is subject to a place being available before your chosen examination date.

No, there are a number of exam centres all over the UK and world. You can take your exam at any of these but you will need to check they accept external candidates and they may charge you additional fees for marking your assessments or taking the exams - over and above the Nebosh fees. Details of local centres can be found on the Nebosh web site. Type in your postcode and local centres will be listed, but not all accept external candidates.

Both the Nebosh Environmental Diploma and Nebosh National Diploma in Health and Safety require students to register with an approved course provider and undertake an approved course of study. Students need to be enrolled on the diploma before they can start studying and then take any Nebosh qualification assessments.
