Here at Cambridge Safety, we appreciate that work and personal circumstances do not always allow those wishing to develop new skills to attend a fully tutored course. As such we have developed a distance learning option to enable directed study fort eh Nebosh Diploma. Nebosh distance learning can be started at any time, with a variety of examination dates available each year.
Diploma Distance Learning
Our Nebosh Diploma Occupational Health and Safety course is a highly popular course designed to develop your competency in the field of occupational health and safety – no matter the industry you work in. Comprehensive course materials include three handout manuals, one per unit and access to our bespoke delegate resources website so you can access your course materials online at any location. Since the new syllabus was launched our distance learning delegates have achieved an 81% pass rate – well above the national average. It is a requirement to have studied a level 3 health and safety qualification prior to undertaking the Diploma, plus this is a level 6 qualification so take the time to consider whether distance learning is the best option for you, please contact us first before booking your package to discuss the learning hours, study commitment and which unit you would like to start studying.
Learning Hours
The following learning hours are only an approximate guide, some delegates will take a shorter/longer amount of time and additional revision time prior to the assessments should be allocated.
- Unit DN1 – Know – Workplace health and safety principles – 195 hours
- Unit DN2 – Do – Controlling workplace health issues – 145 hours
- Unit DN3 – Do – Controlling workplace safety issues – 135 hours
How to take exams
Revision
Revision packages are included in your three years of tutor support and sent out when you register your exam. If your support has expired, you can still purchase the revision package when you register your exam.
Sitting the Examinations
Study may commence at any time and you have the flexibility of choosing when to sit your examinations. However please note that to enter for any Nebosh exam or assessment, exam registration must be made approximately 10 weeks before the examination date, for example if the exam date is the 8th of September, candidates must register with their examination centre by the 2nd July.
Details of the exam dates and registration dates are provided once you have booked on, or if you have a specific exam date in mind please contact us to confirm when you will need to be registered.
Each unit is assessed by an Open Book Assessment accessed online, taken over several weeks.
Each unit is available every 6 months and you can study the units in any order. DN1 is available every March and September, DN2 every May and November, DN3 every January and July.
- DN1 : Assignment – workplace-based tasks together with simulations and reflective statements and a research topic. 40 hours taken over 4 weeks
- DN2 : Scenario-based case study. 20 hours taken over 2 weeks
- DN3 : Scenario-based case study. 20 hours taken over 2 weeks
We shall contact you if you have not made contact with us regarding your study for a period of 6 months.
Is distance learning right for you?
It is important to remember that these are high-level qualifications which require in-depth analysis of the topics studied along with extensive research of the course materials provided and external information sources. Our NEBOSH courses are supported by extensive course materials, self marked assessments, end of element tutor marked assessments and a resource library on a memory stick along with access to our online resource library, podcasts and video presentations. You will need to be highly motivated and have the ability to plan your study route.
We include full guidance for exams and practical assignments, plus a revision package. For courses with Open Book Exam assessments, the delegate must register their exam with their course provider who they have studied with.
If you’re unsure if distance learning is right for you and believe you would benefit from a more interactive style of learning, take a look at our Nebosh Online Courses. You’ll have access to our specially designed E-Learning platform which is home to a range of resources including presentation slides, podcasts and quizzes.
