The course consists of two units : EC1 Management and Control of Environmental Hazards and EC2 Environmental Practical Application
EC1 Management and Control of Environmental Hazards
Element 1: Foundations in environmental management
Element 2: Environmental management systems
Element 3: Environmental impact assessments
Element 4: Control of emissions to air
Element 5: Control of contamination of water sources
Element 6: Control of waste and land use
Element 7: Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency
Element 8: Control of environmental noise
Element 9: Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies
This is an intensive course designed to suit most industries and targeted at individuals who are responsible for environmental management within an organisation or business, such as health and safety advisors, facilities managers and those responsible for environmental issues within the business.
The Nebosh Environmental Certificate is a sign of professional competency which could make you more employable. It’s also a beneficial accolade for any organisation and gives your business the tools to make positive change.

The NEBOSH Environmental Certificate is recognised by:
- Technician Membership of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM)
- Institute Of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA)
- Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
- International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM)
You will need to apply for these memberships within a certain number of years of achieving your qualification.
EC1 - Two hour written exam held at Cambridge Safety.
EC2 – This consists of a practical application submission which must be registered with Nebosh. The environmental audit must be completed and submitted within seven days of the date of your EC1 examination.
You may choose when to sit your examination, however, to enter an exam or assessment, you must register 10 weeks before the examination date. Exams for certificate level qualifications are available at least four times a year. A full list of dates will be provided once you start studying.
The Nebosh environmental certificate online requires the completion of a workplace based task. Ideally this should be completed in your own place of work, however it can be completed elsewhere if you have access to another workplace.

If you suffer from a learning disability, such as dyslexia or dyspraxia, there are a number of things we can do to ensure you’re able to complete the exam to the best of your ability. Whether you require more time in the exam or a separate room, as an inclusive course provider we can help.
Exam Preparation Packages
Revision packages are run prior to some examinations and cover exam techniques and practice questions. It also enables you to clarify any points from the syllabus which you are unsure about.
