Highly sought after by many organisations, the NEBOSH National Diploma in Health and Safety trains delegates to competently apply key legislation and health and safety practices to the work environment.
Since its introduction in 1980, it has become the most popular qualification of its kind with over 18,000 students having successfully gained the Diploma and is the first UK vocational qualification to be developed specifically for health and safety professionals. A brand new syllabus and format for this qualification was launched in 2021, with new style updated assessments as from July 2023.
The course provides an in-depth understanding of occupational health and safety. It covers a the additional management skills along with in-depth reviews of risk management techniques, human factors along with workplace health issues and key safety risks. These skills can be applied to a range of sectors including healthcare, construction and facilities management.

The updated 2023 version of the qualification consists of three units : DN1 Managing Health and Safety, DN2 Workplace Health Hazards, DN3 Workplace Safety.
Health and safety practitioners, advisers and officers who wish to develop their knowledge and skills. It is also suitable for those whose roles involve Health and Safety as an integral part of their job/profession and for those with overall responsibilities for Health and Safety within any multifaceted business e.g:
The Diploma is a level 6 course and requires delegates to have the underpinning formal knowledge of health and safety before commencing study, delegates must have either completed the Nebosh Certificate or a similar level three H&S qualification to be eligible for this programme. If you have not studied with Cambridge Safety previously you will be required to show evidence of your level 3 qualification.
Successful completion of this programme can enable delegates to progress to Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) and full membership of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (MIIRSM). In addition, you can also choose to enrol with the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register (OSHCR).
Delegates are required to enrol with a training centre to study this accredited programme.

NEBOSH recommends a minimum of 191 taught hours and approximately 144 hours of private study to successfully complete the study, with an additional 140 hours to complete the course assessments. You will need to complete the course within five years of your enrolment.
No, delegates must have already completed the Nebosh General Certificate or an equivalent NVQ level three course as you are expected to have the underpinning knowledge to study for the Diploma.
